Hi,

the FX520 is known as FX500 in US. but in most parts of asia pacific it is known as FX520. hope this answer your question.

I heard that FX520 is the best compact in 2008 in TIPA,so is it really good?, image quality is better than ixus (ex:970,860)? hope to see an answer soon because i want to buy this camera, thank you!

I haven't used the canon cameras you've mentioned but I own a FX520. The image quality is okay, not too good nor not too bad.

You can have a full manual control over this camera, which is a good side of the FX520. The downside which I see is about the appearance of noise when images are shot with higher than ISO200.

You may want to consider looking at other models from Canon and Fujifilm before making your decision to purchase this.

I'm choosing between "Canon IXUS 860 IS" and "Lumix DMC-FX520". Do you have any recommendation?

Go for the FX520.

IXUS 860 IS was the camera I compared with FX520. IXUS 860 IS didn't attracted me when i see that there is no manual exposure control.

Now, I am really starting to get used to FX520 and I like it. I think you'll like it too.
