Instant replays on your PSP

While there's nothing quite like soaking in the atmosphere of a live football match at a stadium, you don't get some of the perks from television broadcasts like instant replays. Sony is trying out a system in London with Arsenal Football Club. This utilizes the PSP to stream replays via wireless feed within the stadium. So even if someone at the match happens to be distracted when a goal is scored, this fan will be able to watch it on a properly equipped PSP.
Details on how it will work are still scant, but it will certainly involve the PSP's built-in Wi-Fi and ability to playback videos. To be trialed at Arsenal's Emirates stadium, this system called S.PORT will also allow fans to see statistics and scores of other games. The service will first be tried on 4,000 Arsenal fans and is expected to be available by the end of the year.

More Nike+ shoes by end of 2007

In an interview with the Associated Press, Nike's president and CEO revealed the company's plans to make all its running shoes compatible with its Nike+ technology. A Singapore Nike spokesperson has confirmed that those plans are targeted at the US market, and the Asia-Pacific region may not follow the same timeline. The initial launch of the Nike+ series for Southeast Asia will be April 1, which is almost a year after the US launch. As such, Nike may still have running shoes not compatible with the Nike+ technology at the end of the year in this region. Seven models have been announced for the Southeast Asia launch and more will be released into the market from now till the end of 2007.
The Nike + iPod Sport Kit (read our review here) is made up two components. One part of it fits under the left insole of the shoe and the other device is connected to an iPod nano. The iPod nano can then be used to record your running information like distance and time. This sports kit is currently compatible only with the Nike+ shoes range but is expected to be made available for all Nike shoes intended for running and cross-training in the future. However, this does not include the Nike Free lineup (which simulates barefoot running) and those with studs meant for track and field athletes.
Nike has also confirmed that Nike+ versions of its running shoes will not cost more than their corresponding incompatible shoes (the same models that do not have a cavity for the sensor). Good news for runners who do not wish to use the Nike + iPod Sport Kit or an iPod nano--they do not have to pay more for their running shoes even if all of them are Nike+ compatible. Makes perfect sense actually--charging extra for putting a hole into the sole won't please many Nike fans.

iriver T50

The T50 from iriver is its latest MP3 player to feature the stick-like form factor. In this case, the player has a triangular cross section, much like a certain brand of Swiss chocolate. It comes in either white or black and has 1GB of memory. What's really interesting is the claimed 52 hours of music playback from one AAA-sized battery--quite a feat if it really manages that. The T50 is available only in Japan for now, with a price of about S$128 (US$89.96).

Zune in pink

These days, when gadget makers want to target the ladies, a product ends up coming in a special pink version. Somehow, we wonder if that is really effective. In any case, the latest MP3 player to get the pink treatment is the Microsoft Zune. Cliczune got confirmation from EBgames that this wireless music player will be coming in that pastel shade. There was a limited-edition unit sold on eBay some time back, but it looks like the upcoming pink version is of a lighter shade. The pink Zune will be available from May 1 at S$381 (US$249.99).

Gajah's GD4s: Them future-looking MP3s

Based on the Gajah G105 which bears a rather close resemblance to the iriver U10, the GD4-3, GD4-5 and GD4-7 are video-playing (AVI, WMV) media players with an SD card to boot. Ranging from 2.2- to 2.4-inch screens, each will come with its own built-in speakers and feature FM radio. Though we did not have a chance to test play the units at CeBIT (the units did not arrive by the time we left), based on the mockups, the visual user interface looks delicious.
