Call it inertia, but it's taken Nokia a while to hop onboard the skinny-phone bandwagon. Its latest candy-bar offering, the 6300 was unveiled at today's annual Capital Market Days event in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to global press.
The 6300 measures a slim 13.1mm, making it one of the thinnest handsets among the company's current cellular lineup. Its exterior is sheathed in stainless steel, promising better ruggedness while keeping the phone at a lightweight 91g. Some of the key features on the 6300 are a 2-megapixel camera, FM radio, microSD expansion slot and a 2-inch QVGA screen.

Looks like our Chinese friends are in for a treat this vacation with the release of the Motorola ROKR E6. Nothing like the previous ROKRs, the E6 is in a design class of its own.
Good looks aside, this candy bar replaces iTunes in previous ROKRs for a RealPlayer which supports MP3, MPEG-4, AAC+, WAV, RealAudio, WMA and midi files and supports Bluetooth stereo audio, too. Alternatively, a 3.5mm jack will do the job. Built-in FM radio is a plus for those who like to listen to DJs yakking away on a long trip.
The 1,000mAh battery keeps the E6 humming for 7 hours of talktime and 235 hours on standby. Music goodies aside, there's also a 2-megapixel camera (doubles as a Webcam) and you can preview your snaps on the phone's 2.4-inch, 260k-pixel touchscreen color panel.
Moto's E6 is not all about fun, though. A business card reader, barcode scanner and handwriting recognition make life easier, with also support for Excel, PowerPoint, Word and PDF documents for office executives. Ironically, the candy bar is still on WAP2.0 technology. Where's our Wi-Fi?
Most importantly, the handset reads Secure Digital cards (hooray!) instead of the smaller media, and all of the above come in a sleek profile of only 14.5mm. All said and done, the ROKR E6 is currently slated for the Mainland only, but if you wish hard enough, who knows, Santa might make a stopover in this part of Asia eventually.
We had our fun with the black, white and pink Chocolate phones. So when we got wind of the existence of their cherry and mint edition siblings, we rubbed our hands in glee. Just in time for our Christmas wish list, or so we thought.
The Korean chaebol has released two additional flavors to its popular Chocolate handset series, which cloth the new phones in Christmasy hues of red and green. Just too bad it's for the US market for now. No word from LG on whether these shades will make it to Asian stockings this year but, hey, if they don't, you can still ogle at the pictures below. Meanwhile, we'll content ourselves with Godivas.
More hearsay won't kill especially if the topic is on the fruity giant. An AppleInsider article highlight a report from Taiwan saying that the elusive iPhone will include a 2-megapixel camera. With 3-megapixel camera-phones already going mainstream, this does seem a little on the short end. But until more rumors come to debunk this one, we'll keep our fingers crossed
Meanwhile, an earlier article from Chinese newspaper Commercial Times made headlines when it reported that Taiwanese contract manufacturer Hon Hai, also known as Foxconn, has received orders from Apple to produce 12 million iPhones. It said that the phones are expected to be ready for a first-half 2007 launch.
While rumors of an Apple smart phone device have been circulating on the Internet for a while, this latest report has certainly prompted many fans to believe that Steve Jobs will introduce the iPhone at MacWorld in January next year. Both Apple and Hon Hai have not commented on the report. Hon Hai currently produces iPods for Apple.

The Finnish company's refreshed L'Amour lineup, announced two months back, has at last set sail for this part of Asia. In Singapore, we're told the phones will be available from November 25, Saturday. The handsets were first launched regionally in Ho Chin Minh, Vietnam, on the 6th September 2006.
The new threesome remain true to the "nouveau-ethnic" feel of the original collection launched in 2005 for the style-conscious crowd. Design-wise, the latest additions have gone with the elemental flow and inspiration of the Middle East and Africa.
As a quick update, the 7390 flip phone was crafted for those anticipating Nokia's first 3G fashion phone, With a multimedia feature set that includes a 3-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, FM radio, MP3 player and MP4 video player, and microSD card slot, it's no wonder this has been tagged at a premium S$748 (without contract).
Nokia's also catered to the midrange segment, pricing the 7373 swivel handset with its 2-megapixel camera and FM radio at S$558 (US$410.29) (without line). The 7360 candy bar is clearly a budget offering at S$388 (US$285.29) (without plan) with its VGA camera and video recorder. This last sibling comes in a choice of powder pink or bronze black.
